Although on many occasions, you may want an opaque label, there are some occasions when only a translucent label will do. If you want your sticker to stand out and scream for attention, in the majority of cases, an opaque sticker will be a far better option. However, if it’s a logo for a product, a label for a jar or even a window sticker you might find that a clear label is a far better option. Using a clear label means only the printed parts will be seen, thereby not blocking the product underneath from being on view.
How to design it
Once you’ve decided that a clear sticker will be the most suitable choice, you need to create the design. You will need to find the page of the product you want - there’s lots of choice over shape and size as well we the type of sticker you want - and then select ‘design online’. There’s an easy to follow tutorial which shows you how to upload your images and centre them correctly. The template indicates which areas will be cut off and where the ‘safe zone’ is, so you can be sure that the design you want will be in the right place.
Materials used
If you’ve chosen a translucent waterproof label, the materials used will be extremely robust and resistant to the elements. You can select either a high shine glossy finish or a matt effect, to match the intended destination for your label. Not every surface suits the extreme shine of a glossy label. The sticker itself will be printed using 70 micron vinyl, a tough and durable material which has excellent waterproofing qualities. The inks used are eco-solvent which means they are not just entirely waterproof, but also have great resistance against scratching and UV light, helping to protect the sticker even further.
Choosing the colour palette
There are different design options which can affect the exact tone of the colour so it’s important that you check the technical specifications before going ahead. Stickythings Limited use CMYK mode to print in, and if designs are received in any other format, they will be automatically converted. This means that if you use the alternative RGB colour scale to design your image, there could be some difference in the final proof.
When using the colour black, you will also need to ensure you’ve selected pure CMYK and not a combination as this will dilute the end result. If you don’t follow the above printing guidelines, the final image may lack definition or not be as clear and sharp as you might hope. We know that this kind of technical specification can sometimes be a bit confusing so if you’re not exactly sure whether you’ve done it the right way, just drop us a line and we’d be happy to help.
We don’t hang around!
